ALBANY –
Abby Stemmle (nee Rogers), age 35, passed away on November 1, 2025, after a life-long struggle with severe asthma.
Born on November 2, 1989, she was a 2007 graduate of Columbia High School. Abby dedicated her life to caring for others. First as a DSP in area group homes and then as a manager. Later, she worked for Abany County Department of Mental Health as an ACT team member and Peer, advocating for equal housing for the disenchanted, and most recently at Rehabilitation Support Services in a similar capacity. Abby saw the unseen, heard the unheard, and loved the unloved. She tried to make the world a kinder place.
Abby is survived by her husband and best friend, Denis Stemmle of Albany; her parents, Nancy (O'Neal) and Phillip Langenbach of Rensselaer; her biological father, Jeffrey Rogers of North Carolina; her sister, confidante, and cohort, Jaimee Rogers (Damon Moquin) of Nassau; her nephew Roman Moquin whom she loved dearly; and her maternal grandmother, her "Pookie", Phyllis O'Neal of Rensselaer. Also left behind to mourn her are her feline "children" Bandit and Lu2; dearest best friends Nicole Phifer and Ellen Ackerman, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her maternal grandfather Thurman O'Neal, grandparents Linda and Lloyd Church and paternal grandparents Ernest and Patricia Rogers.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2025, from 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm at the VFW, 100 Hays Road, East Greenbush, NY 12061 with lite fare. All are welcome. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared with Abby's family, online at: SimpleChoicesCremation.com
