Arthur Charles Zdanko

Arthur Charles Zdanko, 78 of Rotterdam, NY passed away late Friday evening May 22, 2026 at the Hospice Inn of St. Peter's Hospital in Albany, NY.

Born in Niskayuna, NY, he was the son of the late Bernard Paul and Ruth Esther Britain Zdanko.  Arthur was raised in Schenectady before moving to Scotia and finally to Rotterdam where he resided for 44 years.  Arthur was a graduate of Mohanasen High School, class of 1967. One year later, he joined the Navy serving proudly as a Nuclear Sub Engineman until his honorable discharge in 1972.  Arthur also served his community as a volunteer firefighter for the Stanford Heights Fire Department from 1964-1978.

On September 23, 1978, Arthur and Phyllis Ann Ilnicki became husband and wife and together they raised a beautiful family. Arthur is survived by his two daughters, Lisa Marie (George) Solotruck and Melissa Ann (Bryan) Thwaits, five grandsons: Keller Michael, Crosby Charles and Miles Garcia Solotruck and Charles Mitchell and Hunter Michael Thwaits. He is also survived by a sister, Jean Ruth Vincent-Latham.  Besides his parents, Arthur was predeceased by his daughter, Amanda Lynn along with several aunts, uncles and cousins.

During his lifetime, Arthur was a true family man spending as much time as possible with his family and grandchildren.  Arthur was  also able to enjoy fishing, hunting, boating, wood working and Nascar and he loved going RV camping with his wife and their dog. 

Arthur's family would like to give special thanks to the Joan Nicole Prince Home and the dedicated staff there as well as the incredible nurses and support staff of Hospice of Northeastern New York who were a blessing to us all.

Arthur's burial will take place with full military honors at The Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery located at 200 Duell Road in Schuylerville, NY.
