Carolyn D. St. Gelais

Saratoga, NY

Carolyn D. St.Gelais, 79, passed away on September 16, 2026, at Saratoga Hospital. Born in Troy, N.Y. on July 16, 1947, she was the cherished daughter of the late Daniel P. and Florence (Prouty) Whinnery. Carolyn grew up in Cohoes and graduated from Cohoes High School. Throughout her life she resided in Clifton Park and Mechanicville. 

Carolyn dedicated years of work to the New York State Insurance Fund and the United States Post Office. Carolyn was an avid sports fan with a deep passion for horse racing, NASCAR (especially rooting for her favorite driver, Dale Earnhardt), and NFL Football, always loyally cheering on her beloved New York Giants. Carolyn lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; chatting with friends and family, facebook, watching the news, snacking, drinking lots of coffee, doing scratch offs, and playing solitaire and bingo. 

Carolyn will be remembered for her selflessness and devotion to her family. In her finest role, “Nana,” she created special memories. Her exemplary life inspires us to love deeply and always take care of one another. Carolyn's servant heart complimented her sassy spirit perfectly; She would give anyone the shirt off her back, but also was not afraid to say what was on her mind. As a result of her generous mentality she was loved by many. Her beautiful soul and infectious laugh will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her. 

She is survived by her devoted children, Arthur A. St.Gelais Jr. (Desiray) and Daniel J. St.Gelais (Heather): her adored grandchildren, Alec Hall-St.Gelais, Jessica Smith, Julianna St.Gelais, Janelle St.Gelais, Arthur Bourdeau-St.Gelais, Karley St.Gelais, and Karissa St.Gelais: and her 3 precious great-grandchildren. 

Carolyn was reunited in death with her daughter Carrie St.Gelais, and her brothers, Warren H. Whinnery and Keith D. Whinnery. 

The family extends their deepest gratitude and special thanks to the compassionate nurses and staff at Saratoga Hospital for the exceptional care provided to Carolyn. 

Calling Hours and a Celebration of life will be held on October 3 from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Round Lake Firehouse. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: donate.shrinerschildrens.org
