COHOES – Charles J. O'Brien, 83, of Cohoes, entered into rest on May 13, 2022, in the comfort of his own home. The son of the late James M. O'Brien and Helen (Simmons) O'Brien, Charles was born on August 24, 1938, in Albany, New York. He was raised and resided most of his life in Loudonville, NY Charles received his education from St. Leo's Preparatory School in Tampa, FL He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1959 and served his country faithfully until 1962 and received an honorable discharge for his service. For many years, Mr. O'Brien was employed by Niagara Mohawk Power Corp. He was a member of The Elks and O.C. Ski Club. Survivors include three children: Kerry A. (George C.) Gallagher of Westfield, NJ and Sarasota, FL, James M. O'Brien II of Zephyr Cove, NV and Holly P. O'Brien of Cedar Hill, TX, one grandson Sean N. Gallagher of Miami, FL and Westfield, NJ., and his former wife Alicia L. O'Brien of Sarasota, FL. Besides his parents, Charles was predeceased by his two sisters, Gerianne Horton of Latham NY and Patricia O'Brien Carroll of Loudonville NY Cremation took place through the care of Simple Choices, Inc. Relatives and Friends are invited to pay their respects on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuyerville, where Charles will receive military honors at 12 PM and subsequently laid to rest.
