TROY – David Scott Oakes, 39, of Troy, NY passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 28, 2022. He was born on May 29, 1983, in Bennington, VT to Mellissa L. Oakes-Dufresne (of Hoosick Falls, NY) and Mark E. Dufresne (of Bennington, VT). David attended Mt. Anthony Union High School in Bennington, VT. He then became a certified welder through ECO in NY and was currently employed at Reo Welding in Albany, NY. David was a genuine, kind, funny, loving man. An outstanding father that loved his children immensely with every fiber of his being. He was the type of person to help anyone that he could, going as far as taking his shirt from his own back to give it to someone that needed it more. David enjoyed camping, fishing, cooking, football, and spending time with family and friends. His smile and bright big blue eyes lit up a room wherever he went. He is already greatly missed by so many. Survivors include his mother - Mellissa L. Oakes-Dufresne, Father - Mark E. Dufresne, Fiancé - Zomaira M. Colon (of Troy), Maternal Grandfather- Ralph Oakes (of Berlin, NY) Children- Dominic Oakes, Braxton Oakes (both of Bennington, VT), Isaiah Garrick and Marisol Baker (both of Troy, NY). Brother- Steve Shand Jr. (of Buffalo, NY) Sisters- Tracy Dufresne (of Cambridge, NY) Wanda Dufresne (of Hoosick Falls, NY), Evie Dufresne (of Bennington, VT), Layna Dufresne (of Bennington, VT) Leah Dufresne (of Bennington, VT) and Lacey Dufresne (of North Bennington, VT). Nieces- Brianna Lown (of Pownal, VT) and Anastasia Rose of (Cambridge, NY). Nephews- Andrew Onorato (of Hoosick, NY) and Elliott Cook (of Hoosick Falls, NY). As well as Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and Friends. Cremation took place through the care of Simple Choices, Inc. A celebration of David's life will be held on Sunday November 13th from 4-7PM at the Eagles Club in Hoosick Falls, NY.
