ROTTERDAM JUNCTION –
Mrs. Elin Jean Buccino, 90, of Rotterdam Junction, passed away Monday, August 4, 2025 at the Glendale Nursing Home with loved ones by her side.
She was born on May 24, 1935 in Queens, New York to the late Peter G. Grau and Elin I. Grau (Jonsson). She married the love of her life, the late Charles M. Buccino in 1956 and together they raised their four children in Copiague, New York. Elin was a fun loving, free spirit and she enjoyed spending time as a den mother for cub scouts, going to fire department and marching band activities with her family, playing cards, doing puzzles, crafts and spending weekends at camp. In her retirement years she could be found doting on her grandchildren and great grandchildren, spending time with her friends at the Ladies Group at Delanson United Methodist Church, the Friendship Cafe in both Delanson and Glenville, the "Meal Site", and Duanesburg Seniors, playing cards, games and bingo, gardening, volunteering at Duanesburg Ambulance and Rotterdam Junction Ladies Auxiliary and making many blankets, hats, mittens, sweaters and other treasured goodies with her incredible crochet and knitting skills. She was particularly proud of her volunteer work with Christ Child Society as she made over 1,000 blankets and sweaters to donate to babies in need.
Elin is preceded in death by her husband, Charlie, as well as her parents, Peter and Elin and her 2 brothers, Clarence and Peter. Elin is survived by her 4 children: Charles K. Buccino, Barbara J. Rothmaler, Peter J. (Carol) Buccino and Elinor M. Buccino (Patrick Leonard), her 7 grandchildren: Gustave (Alyssa) Rothmaler, Victoria (Leonard) Munday, Lisa (Matthew) Eferstein, Bryan (Chloe) Rothmaler, Jason Cramer (Tiffany Nolan), Bethany Rothmaler (Michael Doine) and Dana (Bradley) Golashesky, 11 great grandchildren: Leonard, Anabelle, Kennedy, Orion, Elena, Ariya, Peter, Quinn, Ava, Gustave and Blair, as well as many nieces, nephews and cherished friends.
Elin's family wishes to express their deep gratitude to the Eddy SeniorCare PACE program as well as the Glendale Nursing home staff for their excellent care and support of Elin and her loved ones in her final days.
Per Elin's wishes, there will be no formal services. In remembrance of Elin, donations in lieu of flowers can be made to Duanesburg Ambulance or Rotterdam Junction Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
