With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Elizabeth (Retajczyk) McGuire who left us peacefully on January 11, 2026 at 82 years of age, surrounded by her family.

Born on September 5, 1943 in Schenectady, New York to the late Helen Retajczyk and Stanley Retajczyk. Betty was a devoted mother, wife, and grandmother, whose life was defined by her unwavering love, kindness and loyalty to her family. She truly enjoyed holidays and gatherings with family. Sunday dinners were filled with family, love and laughter. She worked as a legal secretary for 25 years, but her true joy was spending time with her family.

She is survived by her son Michael McGuire (Christina) and her daughter Tracy McGuire (Lisa Spaziani), her adored granddaughter: Molly McGuire, and her step-grandchild Casey Rogers. Brother, Robert Retajczyk Sr., sister Joan Hayner, and sister-in-law Jo Ann Retajczyk, and plenty of nieces and nephews who she adored.

She was predeceased in death by her parents, her husband, Robert McGuire, her sister Marjorie Bongermino, her brother, Richard Retajczyk, and sister-in-law, Sonia Retajczyk.

A celebration of life will be planned in the Springtime.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Mohawk Hudson Humane Society.
