Obituary

Schenectady, New York Erwin S. Capen , 82 , died at his home surrounded by family on Wednesday, December 26th, 2012. Born in Pittsford, VT to the late Charles and Julia Wheeler Capen, Erwin attended Brandon, VT schools and was raised in Brandon before relocating to Schenectady, NY, 60 years ago. Erwin worked in document control, employed by Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory in Niskayuna for 40 years retiring in 1980. He was a member of the Niskayuna Wesleyan Church. Erwin enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved and enjoyed people especially family and friends. Erwin is survived by his wife of over 65 years, Mary J. Capen, his children; Robert (Diane) Capen, Prudence (Harry) Bombard, Earlyne (Anthony) Daddario, Sidney Capen and Cynthia (John) Spuzy all of Schenectady; siblings: Rosaline Capen, Richard (Nancy) Capen and Linda Hanbridge-Fowler. Erwin is survived by 17 grandchildren: Teresa, Robert, David, Kristian, Ryan, Peter, Sarah, Diana, Angela, Alisha, Marisa, Cheryl, Joshua, Caleb, Nathan, Jessica and Becky. Erwin is also survived by 14 great grandchildren. Erwin was predeceased by siblings: Robert Capen and Eva Gemmell and grandchilden Kevin Bombard and Emma Schanz. Funeral Services will be held 10AM Monday morning, December 31, 2012 from the Niskayuna Wesleyan Church, 935 Balltown Rd, Niskayuna. A calling hour prior to the service will be observed beginning at 9AM. Interment immediately following in Memory's Garden, Colonie. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Riverview Funeral Home & Simple Choices, Inc.
