Obituary

Scotia, NY Gene W. Wyman, 59, passed away at his home in Scotia on Thursday, April 13, 2023. Born in the Bronx, NY on July 27, 1963, Gene was the son of the late Frank and Margaret Smith Wyman. Gene lived his life in the Bronx, Poughkeepsie and finally in the Schenectady area where he finally settled in Scotia. Gene was a very community-oriented person and everyone in the community loved him. One person he worked for doing landscaping "lost it" when they found out Gene had passed. They said "he was such a good natured soul". Gene loved to joke around and that quality endeared him to many people. Gene also loved his two cats as well as the many friends and family he left behind. He is survived by his son, Gene Wyman, Jr., his brother, Tommy Wyman (Lisa), beloved niece, Megan Ann Casucci nephews: Mathew Wyman, Walter Vendura, Jr., Mathew Vendura, Myles Turhune along with his lifelong friend Jeanie Zeller. Besides his parents, Gene was predeceased by siblings: Patricia Smith Wyman, Barbara Wyman Vendura, and Frank & George Wyman. I, his niece Megan, would like to apologize if I forgot anyone that has not been listed. This has been a very difficult and trying time and I appreciate everyone who has reached out to offer their condolences and prayers during this time. I also would like to thank Johnny Hernedez for always loving me and being my rock through difficult times as well as Natacha Jenkins and Mike Bevan for being there for me and Tasha L. Maynard for assisting me in writing this obituary for Uncle Gene. A period of visitation was privately held in the Chapel of Simple Choices Cremation Service. Those who wish to remember Gene in a special way may make a contribution in his memory to the Animal Protective Foundation, 53 Maple Avenue, Glenville, NY 12302.
