ALBANY – Jason Michael Stewart, 44, of Albany, formerly of Pittsfield, MA and New Lebanon, NY, entered into rest on October 5, 2022, in the comfort of his own home in Albany. The son of Earl Stewart and Michele McElwain, Jason was born in Norwich, CT on September 18, 1978. Jason was a graduate of Pittsfield High School and furthered his education at Maine College of Art, earning a bachelor's degree in fine art. A kind, gentle and sweet man, Jason volunteered his spare time to Whisker's Cat Shelter in Albany, providing companionship and comfort to cats in search of their forever home. He had the ability to comfort others and put them at ease. He was a brilliant artist who often gifted his paintings to family and friends. In addition to his parents, Jason is survived by one brother, William (Danna) Castagna of Texas, one cousin (who was like a sister) Caryn Fitzgibbon, as well as his feline friend Ziggy. Relatives and Friends are invited to share memories of Jason at 6PM on Friday, October 14th at Simple Choices, Inc., 218 2nd Avenue (corner of 104th Street) in Troy. Jason's family will be present to receive relatives and friends prior to the service from 5-6PM in the funeral home.
