Jean Sylvia Tann passed away on February 13, 2026 in Albany, NY at age 90.
Youngest daughter of the late Elliott and Kathleen (Turner) Tann.
Jean (known as JT) was pre-deceased by Shirley Warren, her long-time friend and companion of many years.
Jean was pre-deceased by her siblings Curtis (Ethel), James (Rosemary), Carrie (John) and Kathleen (William). Survivors include nephews, Martin Tann (Laurie), The Villages, Florida, Jim Stinson and Jeffrey Holmes, Cleveland, Ohio and nieces, Sylvia and Ceylon Holmes, Northern Ohio and Leanna Cross (Gerald), Cleveland. Jean is also survived by Shirley’s sisters Joan (Ken) Wright, Southfield, Michigan, Bonita Sawyer and Marquita Bishop, Cleveland, Ohio. Jean proudly served in the United States Navy stationed at the Brooklyn Naval Shipyard and the Naval Station in Scotia, New York and was honorably discharged after six years’ service.
Jean worked for the State of New York in the Department of Commerce which later became the Economic Development Department from which she retired after 37 years of state service.
Amongst her local friends, Carol Adriance & Ralph Barger, Annette (Larry) Harkins, Joan (Tom) Mackey, Nadine (late Dick) Smith, Sherlene (Alan) Wallace, Holly (Brett) Johnson, Mary (Dan) Weidman, Gordon (Karol) Lewis, Harrisonburg, Virginia and Chuck (Terry) Pishko, Sarasota, Florida, meant so much to her.
Her very friendly neighbors included Ian Wiltshire of Menands who taught her to use "THAT BLASTED LAPTOP" sent to her by her nephew Martin, Jean's neighbors Trina, Rahul and Rayna Bhattacnarya and ever helpful apartment complex’ superintendents Bill Adams and Nick Dennis.
A special mention to Theresa (Chris) Larm and family for all their help and support.
