On Tuesday, April 14th, 2026, hearts were broken across the Capital Region with the sudden and unexpected death of John Anthony Audi, affectionately known as Tony. Tony was born on May 22, 1972, to John Audi and Patricia Nolan Audi (deceased).
Tony started his long managerial career in the Food and Beverage industry, running Maxies, Rafferty’s, and Peddlers simultaneously. It was here that he established lifelong friendships that will continue with his family. Subsequently, he continued by supporting the planning and execution of the grand opening of Tilted Kilt. At the time of his death, he had worked for Meerkat Pest Control for many years, a job he enjoyed and where he was treated like family. We are grateful to those at Meerkat who came to his rescue that day and have been so supportive of our family.
Outside of work, Tony had volunteered his time at LifeSong, a local organization that assists those with special needs. Through this, Tony was able to introduce creative expression through drawing, sculpting, and painting, giving those involved new ways to express their talents and communicate through art. In return, it gave Tony one of the most rewarding experiences that he had ever been a part of.Tony’s expression extended far beyond traditional forms of art. He earned his purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, a discipline where he felt most like himself and found strength, focus, and purpose on the mats. If you ever spoke with him about sports or physical fitness, chances are he encouraged you to come to a class and experience it for yourself.
Tony’s passion for movies was infectious. This would range from dramas, action-adventure, and fantasy, but it was his love and devotion to Star Wars that stood out from the rest. From a young age, he would always have the inside scoop about films, comic books, and toys. His love and devotion to film would be passed down through the next two generations of our family. To this day, we still quote dialogue from dozens of films, all stemming from his love of movies from an early age. Everyone who knew him knew that everything he did was for his beloved children: Christopher Audi and Tierney Audi, who survive him. He is also survived by his father, John Audi, sister Christine Audi Strevell, her two sons Ryan and TJ Strevell, his brother Michael Audi and his two sons Vincent and Nicholas Audi. He is also survived by many cousins and friends who will miss him dearly.
The loss of his best friend and cousin, Joe Losito, to suicide last October, affected him deeply, and we are comforted knowing that they are together again, laughing and telling stories. Miss you both, buddies. We are grateful for the love and support from so many. Tony will be cremated, and a celebration of his life will be held over the summer. A GoFundMe has been set up for his children:https://www.gofundme.com/manage/supporting-tonys-children-christopher-and-tierney/donations
