TROY – John C. Bloomingdale, 61, of Troy, known to most as "Johnny B." passed away peacefully and surrounded by love at Samaritan Hospital on Thursday December 29, 2022. The son of the late John Bloomingdale and Evelyn (Barnum) Bloomingdale, John was born on August 16, 1961, in Troy, New York. In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by one sister. He is survived by his four sisters as well as two children and three grandchildren. A host of lifelong friends also survive, cherishing his memory. Johnny B. was a friend to everyone and family to all. He will be remembered as always smiling, someone who never said a crossword. He was quick with a joke and always had a witty come back. John loved his cats, playing darts, horseshoes, softball and listening to music. He was an avid NY Yankees fan. Cooking was his passion and profession. He worked at both The Ale House where staff and customers loved him and a Nursing home where staff and residents adored him as well. John loved to have a good time, whenever you were around him you always walked away with a smile or a laugh. He was the kind of guy who held onto old friends and made new friends, developing lifelong friendships wherever he went. When John entered the room, people would say, "Johnny B". If you were John's friend, you were his family. Special thanks to the amazing Nurses, Doctors, and staff at Samaritan Hospital for their care, love and friendship to him while he was there. Cremation has taken place through the care of Simple Choices, Inc. Relatives and Friends are invited to gather on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, from 5-6:30PM in the Chapel of Simple Choices, Inc., 218 2nd Avenue, Troy, NY 12180.
