IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John
Calandra
November 30, 1939 – August 29, 2017
John Calandra, 77, passed away August 29, 2017, at Albany County Nursing Home. John was born in Buffalo, N.Y., on June 11, 1940, to Peter and Ruth Calandra. He is survived by his son Matthew Calandra, his sister Linda Farrell, and partner Anne (Clas) Bohenek.
John was most known for his humor, work ethic and kindness. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard and was actively involved in several organizations in the Capital region. Throughout his career in sales and management, John was recognized for his drive, tenacity and diplomacy, but his greatest reward was in his later years as a school bus driver. John cherished "his kids" who, along with their parents, adored him.
Nicknamed "Johnny Love," he was blessed with a great voice. His final job was as radio announcer at the nursing home, where both staff and residents delighted in his daily antics while reading the announcements.
John left his vast fortune to his beloved cat, Sneakers.
"Johnny Love has left the building and will be missed by many. Good night, my love." - Anne.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date to be announced.
