ALBANY –

Mr. Joseph Sauer, 67, of Albany, formerly of Hudson, passed away on September 23, 2025 at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany.

He was born on October 8, 1957 at Bethpage Hospital in Seaford NY, to the late Ferdinand Sauer and Gaetana (Cataldo) Sauer.

Joseph was raised in Seaford and has been a resident of Beacon and Hudson.  He was employed with the New York State Department of Corrections (NYSDOC). Mr. Sauer retired after working as a corrections officer in 3 different prisons for over 25 years which he was so proud of. He loved his grandson Giovanni so much. Joseph will be warmly remembered as the kindest man in the whole wide world, he was funny, sweet, thoughtful and just overall a great man who will be dearly missed. He has been described as "the was the life of the party."

On a leap year, February 29, 2000, he married his late wife Debra in Beacon, NY. Whom he now joins.

He is survived by his daughter, his baby girl, Grace Sauer as well as two step sons: Kyle Barrack and Dylan Barrack, as well as one grandson, Giovanni Sage Howard. Surviving sisters: Linda Gubitosi and Patrica Roller.

Joseph was predeceased by his father, his mother, his wife and his brother, Ferdinand Sauer.
