Obituary

Albany, NY   Josephine Veronica Pape passed away on May 3, 2020, at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center in Guilderland, NY.  She was the daughter of the late William and Margaret (Ricchiuti) Ruscitto of Albany. Raised in Albany, Josephine graduated from Cathedral High School, Albany, NY, class of 1951. She was self-employed as a beautician and later worked for the NY State Assembly. Josephine and her husband Joseph were married for nearly 65 years, and spent many of those years traveling, golfing, bowling and socializing with close friends in Albany and Winter Haven, Fl. Most important for Josephine was the time spent with her family, with many Italian feasts at the family homestead on Besch Avenue. Josephine is survived by her sons, Ralph F. "Bud" Pape (Georgia) of Slingerlands, William (Rebecca) Pape of Naples, Fla., and James (Stacey) Pape of South Burlington, Vt.; grandchildren, Michael (Kellie) Pape of Selkirk, Patrick (Stephanie) Pape of Effingham, Ill., Garrett (Natalie) Pape of Wheaton, Ill., Jeffrey (Kate) Pape of Schenectady, Taylor Pape of River Forest, Ill., Danielle Pape of Brooklyn, and Amelia Pape of South Burlington, Vt.; and six great-grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by sisters Jeannine (Timothy) DeVost and Virginia (John) Graves. She leaves behind dear friends: Betty Orsino, Marie Bondi, and Eleanor McCoy. Per Josephine's wishes and the climate of these times, there will be no calling hours. Interment will take place at a later date at Saratoga National Cemetery. There will be a Mass and memorial service for Josephine when conditions permit. Memorial contributions may be made in Josephine's name to the Alzheimer's Association, 4 Pine West Plaza, Suite 405, Albany, NY 12205.
