IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lawrence Leonard
Marmet
May 10, 1954 – January 25, 2026
GUILDERLAND -
Lawrence L. Marmet, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed from this life on 1/25/26 at St. Peter's Hospice Inn after a long battle with cancer. Larry was born 5/10/25 in Ilion, NY, to Leonard and Joan (Bass) Marmet. Larry grew up in Western NY and returned to Central NY to raise his family. Larry is best remembered as a kind loving person with a wild sense of humor and a great love for learning. He had an exceptional propensity for understanding the workings of mechanical devices. Larry could analyze and fix any mechanical or electrical problem he encountered. One of his greatest joys was working to restore antique and classic heavy equipment. Another of his joys was sharing his knowledge with those around him. Larry was always happy to spend his time helping others. He spent the majority of his life working as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator. Larry could drive anything, and the bigger the machine the better! He also had a love for the study of law, particularly advocating for anti-discrimination legislation, and served as a Justice for the Town of Richfield. Larry also enjoyed spending his time in nature, with family and pets, and loved music, collecting high fidelity audio equipment throughout his life.
Larry loved his family deeply. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Ann (Stock) of Schenectady, his daughter Jennifer (John) Maine of Plainfield, Son Michael (Tracey) Marmet of Richfield, Son Alexander Marmet of Schenectady, and four beloved grandchildren, who will cherish his memory. He is also survived by his sisters and brother, Louise (Mike), Lucinda, Loretta, Lucille and Lorne(Gail) as well as nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to family he is survived by two very dear friends, Karen Rowland of Little Falls and Michael Bartlett of Clifton Park. He is predeceased by his parents, his wife Vanda Alice Marmet, his brother Leo and his sister Linda. A celebration of life will be held in late spring/early summer.
