Lee T. Battes, 72, passed away on Monday, November 20, 2017 with his wife Ruthana by his side.

Lee was born in Cleveland, Ohio on February 24, 1945 to the late Jacob and Loretta Battes.  Lee was a physicist for NYS Division of Military and Naval Affairs for over 30 years.  He was educated at Case Western Reserve University in Ohio.

In 1970, Lee met his wife Thana. They spent 45 wonderful years together.  Lee was a nationally rated Chess expert, a very talented Tennis player and a very knowledgeable astronomer.  Together they shared a passion for science fiction.

Lee and Thana are animal lovers and together have rescued over 70 animals from all over the country.

Lee was predeceased by his siblings, nieces and nephews.  He is survived by his wife, Thana Battes and a host of family and friends in New York and Ohio.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Friday, December 1, 2017 from 1 to 3 PM at 150 Dutch Meadows Lane "The Meadows at Glenwyck".
