Lewis H. Babcock, age 95, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday June 26, 2026.
His daughters Jean (Don) Tower and Victoria (Bill) Bode, 7 grandkids, sister-in-law Carol and long-time friend Donald all mourn his passing.
The oldest of five, Lewis was born in New Jersey and grew up in Chatham, NY. He embraced his Scottish heritage and taught Scottish Country Ballroom Dance where he met his wife, Joan. They were married for 55 years. Together they raised their family in Schenectady, NY, where he continued on as a dance teacher, member of the St. Andrews Society and model train club. He was an active “Soldier” at the Salvation Army where he played the tuba in the brass band for 55 years.
Lewis was a successful computer programmer with Key Bank until his retirement. He could fix anything and was always happy to help anyone with fix-it projects. He was a hobby carpenter, mechanic, electrician and software creator. His talents were many but it's his character that we will miss the most. A loving husband, patient father, and generous neighbor. His patient wisdom and honest faith have been a blessing to those that knew him
