ALBANY –
Lorraine Walls, 53, of Albany, formerly of Hawthorne, NY, passed away on July 8, 2025, in Albany, NY. Lorraine was a graduate of Westlake High School and SUNY Purchase.
Lorraine had a zest for life that is hard to explain in words – she brightened every room she entered. You never had to guess how Lorraine was feeling, she told the people she loved that she loved them, constantly. Lorraine was warm, personable, and easy to talk to. She was the most loving, caring, sensitive, selfless, and empathetic person. She was also the funniest person you ever met – she was always making everyone laugh – endlessly silly and funny. She was the ultimate caregiver – she did all the "little things" to show you that she cared, in addition to the big things.
Lorraine leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted wife, Lauren Cestone, whom she married in Lake George, NY – a place Lorraine loved swimming and going to the beach; her parents Michael and Barbara Walls; her parents-in-law Jeryl and Vinnie Cestone; her sister Michele (Jason), her brother Gregory, her sister-in-law Michele (Aaron), and her brother-in-law Scott (Brittany).
Lorraine will be warmly remembered as "The World's Best Aunt" to her cherished nieces and nephews. Being an aunt was the most important thing to Lorraine, and she was the absolute best aunt ever to her nieces: Amanda, Kristin, Maya, and one on the way!, and her nephews: Rory, Kieran, James, and Liam. She played with her nieces and nephews like a big kid - she was the favorite aunt by a mile. Lorraine also loved animals, especially her three cats Pumpkin, Pie, and Spice.
Lorraine was a big Anglophile (she loved England), particularly Brighton and London, but really everywhere in England! Lorraine and Lauren traveled there three times, including this past December to enjoy the holiday decorations and New Year's celebrations. Lorraine particularly loved holidays – she decorated for every imaginable holiday, thoughtfully sent cards to everyone, and even dressed up for every holiday you can think of. She took "holiday spirit" to a new level! And team spirit – Lorraine was a huge Liverpool Football Club fan, as well as a New York Yankees fan. She also loved music and movies and was always up on pop culture. Lorraine liked all types of music, but especially 80s music, and she watched all types of movies and TV shows.
Lorraine was an incredible gift giver, she always gave everyone gifts, for any occasion (or no special reason at all). Her final act of love was that of an organ donor, providing the gift of life to multiple people.
Special thanks to the wonderful staff at Albany Medical Center, especially those in the Surgical ICU.
A Celebration of Life for Lorraine will be held on Saturday, July 26 at 3:00 at Wolff's Biergarten in Albany.
