Marion K. Garahan, nee Kyer, died on September 6, 2017 at St. Peter's Nursing and Rehab Center.
Born in Hoosick Falls, NY to parents Hattie Jacobs Kyer and Lorens O. Kyer, she is predeceased by siblings Lorens Kyer, Harold Kyer and Helen Brownell.
She married Martin J. Garahan on 09/12/1943. She was widowed in November 1994.
Marion leaves a daughter, Colleen (Richard) Peck, Sr.; grandchildren Aeron and Brian Simendinger. She also embraced step grandchildren Valerie (Jim) Pelc and Richard (Pamela) Peck, Jr. and their children Taylor Pelc, Adam Pelc, Alexis Peck and Cameron Peck. She was always Great Gram to the younger ones.
After marriage she lived first in Troy and then Defreestville, in the house she and Mart built before retiring to Englewood, Florida.
She was an accomplished seamstress and crafter. In Florida she was active as a volunteer with the local sheriff's office and ran the craft program for Tangerine Woods. They loved to travel in their RV spending winters in Florida and coming back north to spend summers with family and friends.
In 2001 Marion came to live with her daughter and family. She spent over 13 years enjoying everyone before going to St. Peters nursing facility.
There will be no calling hours or funeral. Anyone wishing to remember Marion please make a contribution to the charity of your choice.
