Obituary for Mary Croll Reyes

It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of our dear wife, mom, grandmom, sister, aunt, cousin and friend Mary Reyes, who passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on July 24, 2026 at the age of 82. Mary was born in Middleburgh, NY the 4th child of Charles and Helen Croll.

Mary grew up in Middleburgh, NY where she attended Middleburgh Central School and graduated with honors and was valedictorian of her 1962 graduating class. She was editor of the school newspaper and a member of the National Honor Society. After graduation she attended Albany State University where she graduated with a Master’s Degree in Education. She taught at various public schools in Schoharie County for the first part of her teaching career. Having a passion for education, She went on to teach students at the Mt. McGregor Correctional Facility in upstate NY. She then became the Program Manager for the education department at Capital District Psychiatric Center in Albany, NY . After retiring from the NY State Department of Education, she relocated to Las Vegas Nevada where she taught 7th grade at Bridger Elementary School for several years prior to retiring. It was in Las Vegas where she met her beloved husband Pablo Reyes. He was the love of her life.

Mary loved animals, often taking on many of the struggling animals when growing up on a dairy farm, nursing them back to health. “She had such a kind heart,” remembers her sister Barb. In Las Vegas she helped rescue and raise funds for the Nevada wild horses in partnership with Red Rock Canyon. She loved to travel and spend time with family. She dedicated several years to help raise her grandson, Nicholas, whom she adored. Mary will be dearly missed.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her sister Anita Serrie and husband Charles Serrie, and her sister Nancy Croll (Paul).

She leaves behind her son John Corlett (Millie) along with grandchildren Zack and Emmy as well as her daughter April White (Phil) and grandson Nicholas. She also leaves behind her sister Barbara Smith (Gene), brother Charles Croll (Sharon), several nieces and nephews, and her beloved husband Pablo and dog Bear.

Per Marys request, no funeral service will be held. The family invites you to remember her in your own special way.
