Matthew D. Bertrand 41, of Schenectady, passed away Tuesday July 22, 2025 surrounded by family and loved ones.

Matthew was born on September 13, 1983 in Pensacola, Florida. The son of Douglas J. Bertrand and the late Laurie A. Bertrand. He is survived by his son Andrew J. Bertrand his sisters, Kacy M. Bertrand, Emily K. Bertrand, and Alicia L. Bertrand, one niece and one nephew.

Matthew was just a child when his parents moved back to New York and spent most of his life in Schenectady. He loved sports, music, occasionally playing guitar, was a talented writer and enjoyed cooking. His true passion of cooking began just as a teen where he gained his early experience working at Old Country Buffet in Schenectady. Often, in his spare time he loved being in the kitchen creating his own recipes and trying new dishes. Matthew was a lifelong WWE and football fan (Go Niners!). He had many, many close friends who loved and cherished him as they have become like family to him over the years. Our hearts are broken to say goodbye. He will be deeply missed by friends and family.
