Michael “Mickey” Izzo LANSINGBURGH, NY – Michael “Mickey” (Eates) Izzo, 90, of Lansingburgh, passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2026. Born in Troy, he was the son of the late Anthony Izzo and Margaret (Giordano) Izzo. He grew up in Troy and was a graduate of Troy High School.

Mickey spent 40 years working in the mail room at the Rensselaer County Department of Social Services. He loved being around people, sharing a beer, telling a joke, and enjoying conversation. Mickey had a quick wit and loved a good one-liner. He had a personality that made him memorable, and he never seemed to run out of something to say. One of his favorite things to say was, “I Will Survive,” a phrase that became very much a part of his personality.

A longtime Lansingburgh resident, Mickey was truly part of the neighborhood. He was a former member of Friends of Lansingburgh, the Emerald Club, and the Eagles Club. He also occasionally volunteered in the kitchen at the Vets Club, where he was always happy to have an opportunity to help out.

Mickey and his beloved wife, Eileen, treasured their trip to Ireland. They loved celebrating St. Patrick’s Day and often welcomed friends into their home to share in the festivities. Their yard was another favorite gathering place, where Mickey could catch up with people and share conversation.

Music was a big part of Mickey’s life, and he loved Al Jolson. He appreciated good food, laughter, and the simple pleasures of life. He also had a soft spot for his pets and cherished all of the animals that were part of his life over the years.

Mickey was close to his brothers and loved his family dearly. To his nieces and great-nephews, he was simply “Uncle Mickey.” He was a great uncle, and his family will always treasure the memories they shared with him.

In addition to his parents, Mickey was predeceased by his beloved wife, Eileen (McGovern) Izzo; and his brothers, Joseph Izzo (Norma), Anthony Izzo (Beverly), and Patrick Izzo.

He is survived by his loving nieces, Nicole (Steven) Izzo and Christina (Patrick) Doyle; his great-nephews, Carson and Cameron Doyle; and his dear friends, Vince and Chris Reo. Vince was Mickey’s best friend, and their friendship was a special part of his life.

Mickey lived a full life, surrounded by family, friends, laughter, music, and plenty of stories. He will be remembered for his humor, his big personality, his generosity, and the many memories he left behind. He leaves behind a lifetime of stories and plenty of reasons to smile when he is remembered.

There will be no calling hours or public services. Burial will be private at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Troy, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mickey’s memory to Mohawk Humane Society.
