VALATIE –
Patricia A. Fitzgerald, aged 75, of Valatie and formerly of Schenectady, entered into eternal rest on February 17, 2026. Born in Corinth, New York, she was the beloved daughter of the late Franklin Cowles and Blanche Ovitt Cowles.
A woman of character and independence, Patricia was known for her contagious smile, her spirited laugh, and her steadfast commitment to living life on her own terms. She spent her formative years in Corinth and Schenectady, where she built a life centered on family and service.
Patricia was a graduate of Sawyer Medical College, where she achieved the distinguished honor of Valedictorian of her Medical Assistant class. Her professional career included many years of dedicated service with Central Brown Taxi and Electric City Taxi. During her final years in Valatie, she became a cherished member of her nursing home community, beloved by both fellow residents and the staff who cared for her.
She is survived by her devoted children: Bobby Archambault (Jennifer), Tania Olsen, Elizabeth Schack, Missy A. Bergelt (Daniel), and Jacob Stanton (Kristy). She also leaves behind her siblings, Shirley, Ronald, Hal, Bill, Chris, Mary, Danny, and Rose, and was predeceased by her siblings Leona, Barbara, and Larry.
Patricia’s legacy continues through her many grandchildren: Breanna Pemantel (Michael Jr.), Amanda Tuttle, Ashlee Sano, Dedria Olsen, Gabby Muise, Courtney Bergelt, Kayla Marie Schaefer, and Deric Wright. She was predeceased by her grandson, Bobby Archambault Jr.
She is further survived by her great-grandchildren: Rose Civitello, Natalia Civitello, Sterling Bergelt, Michael Klink Jr., Jeffery Mundell, Eva and Ana Morales, Jairius Diaz, Brenden, Hannah, Bradley, and Brody Stanton, and Cassidy and Manny Wright. She was predeceased by her great-granddaughter, Isabella Leigh Pemantel.
Patricia will be remembered for the joy she brought to those around her and the unique spirit with which she approached the world.
