ALBANY- Richard Barretta, 59, of Albany, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, May 17, 2021. He was born in Albany on March 29, 1962, the son of the late Frank and Carmella Barretta. Richard went to Bishop Magin High School and graduated in 1980. He also attended HVCC. Richard was a hard-working, caring individual, always striving to improve himself and to help others. He was formerly employed as a Civilian Employee with the New York State Police. Richard was a devout Catholic and a member of Historic St. Mary's Church on Capitol Hill in Albany. Richard is survived by his brothers John and Carmen. He is also survived by several aunts, cousins and an uncle. Richard was preceded in death by his Mom and Dad and brother Frankie. There will be no formal funeral service or calling hours. Prayers will be offered at 11 o'clock on Wednesday, June 9th in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
