Richard F. Donah

Richard F Donah, formerly of Schaghticoke, NY, died peacefully at home in Troy, NY on September 24, 2026. He was the beloved husband of Marilyn Mercier Donah.

Born to Richard J and Marie (Myers) Donah, Dick grew up in Plattsburgh, NY and graduated from Mount Assumption Institute and SUNY Plattsburgh.  He taught American history at Hoosic Valley Central School in Schaghticoke, NY. Taking up running in his forties, he ran two marathons.  Upon retirement, he did home renovations. Dick also enjoyed traveling to National Parks both in the US and Canada and to Cape Cod, camping and fishing in the Adirondacks, and reading.

He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Roger Donah and his sister Marilyn Lippacher. Also by his in-laws Conrad and Dorothy Mercier and David Mercier.  He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marilyn, his brother-in-law and sister-in law Ronald and Patricia Mercier, his sister-in law Donna (the late David) Mercier, his nieces Catherine (the late Cuong) Ngo, Rebecca (Roberto)Vargas, Deborah Mercier (Robert Finley), his nephew Daniel (Lisa) Mercier, and their families. He is also survived by several cousins.
