Richard Anthony Hernandez

Richard A. Hernandez, 82, born in Brooklyn, New York, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2026. 

Richard retired from Engine Company 299 and Ladder Company 152 of the New York City Fire Department in 1993. He served with distinction and dedication for more than 17 years as one of New York’s Bravest. He spoke warmly of his years spent saving lives and of the camaraderie he shared with his fellow firefighter brothers. Prior to his career as a NYC Fireman, he served 3 years with the NYC Police Department. 

Richard is survived by his sister, Gloria Grimmell; his daughter, Denise Filingeri; his special friend, Lucy Coleman; four grandchildren as well as many nephews and nieces. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Rite of Committal service on June 17, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at St. Charles Cemetery on 2015 Wellwood Ave. in Farmingdale, NY 11735. We will meet at the visitor lot by 11:45 am
