BRUNSWICK –
Dr. Richard L. Jones, fondly known as "Dick" by his family and friends, was born March 8, 1946 and passed away peacefully at home in Troy, NY, surrounded by his loving family on June 22, 2025.
Dick was a nationally recognized teacher who earned his M.A. from San Francisco State College, and his Ph.D. from the City College of New York.
He produced over 60 plays and musicals at the Sage Colleges and was named the first Edith McCrea Endowed Professor in the Fine Arts.
Dick was a life-long fan of the Chicago Cubs, and was predeceased by his loving grand-dog, Woody.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Jones, his son, Alex Jones, his daughter, Cate Jones, his brother, Scott Jones, his brother-in-law, Andrew Ryder, his mother-in-law, Madeleine Sussman, his bestie, John Larson, and many loving friends.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Friday, August 8, 2025 in the Chapels of Simple Choices, Inc. & Riverview Funeral Home, 218 2nd Avenue (corner of 104th Street) Troy NY 12180. Calling Hours for visitation are from 4 pm to 5 pm in the funeral home, with a brief service at 5 pm. All are welcome.
Dick's ashes will be buried as a Living Urn and will grow into a Red Delicious apple tree.
