CATSKILL & GLENMONT –

Rosemary "Dolly" Gentile, 97, of Catskill, New York died peacefully in her Glenmont apartment at The Abbey with friends and family at her side on Saturday evening, September 6, 2025, following a short bout of pneumonia.

Dolly was born December 1, 1927 in Brooklyn, NY to Joseph Mollo and Lucille "Lucia" M. Jacovacci of Brooklyn and Cairo, NY.

She met Camille "Tommy" Gentile of Catskill, the love of her life, in 1944 when he was in the Coast Guard band stationed in Manhattan. They met at a nightclub in Leeds and spent summer days at Slippery Rock.

They married June 16, 1946 at the Sacred Heart Church in Cairo and resided with Tommy's family in Catskill until they could save enough to purchase a beautiful little home on Clinton Avenue, where they raised their daughter Andrea, an only child.

Dolly was employed at Lerner's Department Store as a buyer. She also worked at Hill'n Vale, Linda's Corset Shop and at Tommy's daytime business, Elite Cleaners, and more recently had a stint at Walmart in Catskill to keep busy following Tommy's death. Anyone who knew Dolly knew she was always busy with something, and she was an active member of numerous civic groups over the years.
