Steven A. Joyner, 75, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2026 at River Ridge Nursing Center in Amsterdam, NY. Steve was born April 2, 1951, in Schenectady, NY, son of the late Julia (Murtagh) Kieru and Allen Joyner.
He was a graduate of Scotia-Glenville High School and lived in Scotia, NY for much of his life as well as Colorado Springs, Lake Tahoe and Pittsfield, MA. He was adventurous and fun loving. Steve enjoyed time with family and friends, liked 70s and 80s rock music, loved animals including his beloved cat Camere and was a lifelong fan of the New York Yankees and Giants. Steve was a professional house painter and restorer for over 40 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his ex-wife Elizabeth Cardiel, his stepfather, Joseph Kieru, sister Linda Tullock and husband Richard and stepbrother John Kieru. He is survived by his daughter Kristin Coyne (Joyner) and son Patrick Coyne (Joyner); stepbrother David Kieru and wife Barbara; stepbrothers Christian Joyner, Allen Joyner, stepsisters Lillian Fay Joyner Rudinger and Lisa Szubielski; nieces Michelle Tullock, Leah Kieru and Sara Kieru, and grandchildren Jalen, Gabe, Wyatt and Oran. The family also recognizes Steve’s lifelong friend, Leonard Attanasio, for always keeping Steve in mind.
