Virginia J. Murphy, 94, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, left this world on February 10, 2026 to enjoy eternal life with our Lord.
Virginia was born on December 16, 1931 in New York City. She married Arthur J. Murphy in 1950. The Murphys had three sons: Arthur, Jr., Anthony, and Edward. She was an ardent believer in the value of education, and was very proud of the academic accomplishments of her children and grandchildren. Virginia loved family activities including traveling domestically and abroad. She excelled at homemaking and her work at a local bank. Nothing was more important to Virginia than her faith in God and her love of family.
Virginia is survived by a large and loving family: sons Arthur J. Murphy Jr. and his wife Leonor, Anthony J. Murphy Esq. and his wife Deborah, and Dr. Edward T. Murphy and his wife Sally, and grandchildren Arthur Murphy III and his partner Hailee Hettrick, Brian Murphy and his wife Savanna, Christine Southard and her husband Nolan, Michelle Farrell and her husband Brandon, Erin Trisch and her husband Tyler, Christopher Murphy, and Rachel Ziegler and her husband Mark. She is survived by great-grandchildren Felicity Southard, Knox Southard, Kiernan Farrell and Theodore Trisch. She treasured her surviving brother Anthony Rosselli and his partner Jan Reed. She is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews. Virginia was predeceased by her parents Antonino and Mary Rosselli and her brother Albert Rosselli. She was very proud of her Italian heritage. The love of her life was her husband of 57 years, the late Arthur J. Murphy, Sr., who went to his rest with the Lord in 2007.
A Funeral Mass will be at Church of the Holy Spirit, 667 Columbia Turnpike, East Greenbush, NY 12061 on Monday, February 23, 2026 at 10 AM, and interment will follow immediately thereafter at Gerald B.H. Solomon - Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family, online at: SimpleChoicesCremation.com
