Obituary

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA –
William "Bill" Thompson Reyburn, 76 of Williamstown, MA. passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Friday December 5, 2025 at Albany Medical Center.
Bill was born and raised in New London, CT.  One of five children to Maury and Merle Reyburn, Bill and his siblings spent their summers on Pequot Beach swimming and sailing and traveling to Block Island on family trips.  He is a 1967 graduate of New London High School,1969 graduate of Mitchell Jr. College, and received his B.A. in Political Science from University of Hartford in 1971.  Music was at the center of the Reyburn household and Bill sang as a boy soprano for many years at St. James Episcopal Church in New London.  Throughout the years, family get-togethers were filled with music and singing.  The power of music was Bill's gateway to sharing his heart and soul with the world.  This continued into his adulthood where he toured the country as a professional musician with the folk rock duo, Brandywyne Tyme , and as a solo artist at local venues on Cape Cod.  His love for choir singing continued as a member with the Chatham Chorale and Chamber Singers , traveling to Romania. He also loved jamming with local musician friends at Thursday Night Chefs . Bill was a sought after master carpenter and building designer on Cape Cod. A loving father of three children, Bill would take them sailing on Pleasant Bay on their boats, The Liddy Biddy and The Zephyr . In his final years he settled down in Williamstown, MA. He was a member of the choir at St. John Episcopal Church, and an active member in the community. He volunteered and supported organizations near and dear to his heart. Bill shared his artistry with many, and wrote songs dedicated to his children and grandchildren. His legacy lives on through his family, friends and people he loved.
Bill is survived by his partner Robin Lenz of Williamstown, MA, his three children; daughter Julie Reyburn and husband Thor Fields of New York, N.Y., with former spouse, Aleda Angell of Webster, MA., son Richard Reyburn of Thomasville, N.C., and daughter Lydia Reyburn and partner Martin Zalud of Stockton Springs, ME., with former spouse Sarah Reyburn of Thomasville, N.C., Robin's two children; son Colin MacDonald and wife Hannah Cochran of East Greenbush, N.Y., daughter Marichal Gupta and husband Aman Gupta of Scarsdale, N.Y. Bill's siblings, Eleanor Peterson of Waterford, CT., Georgie Childs of Osterville, MA and Charles Reyburn and wife Trish Reyburn of Waterford, CT.  Bill was a loving grandfather to 12 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild due to enter the world on January 8th, 2026, and loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by his mother and father, Maury and Merle Reyburn, his brother James Reyburn, and brother in law John Peterson all from New London, CT., Sister in law, Brent Reyburn of Wyoming, RI., and brother in law Ralph Childs of Osterville, MA.
Memorial services to celebrate Bill's life will be scheduled at a later date.
