Obituary of Silvano Delnevo
CAMBRIDGE –
Silvano Delnevo, 72, of Cambridge, NY, formerly of East Northport NY, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his own home on March 23, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on May 11, 1951 in Porcigatone, Italy to Maria (Tiberini) Delnevo and the late Aldo Delnevo.
He was raised in Borgo Val di Taro, Italy, and has lived in East Northport, New York, and Upstate New York.
Mr. Delnevo was the owner of Silvano’s Italian Restaurant for 10 years, he was also the owner of S&L Carpentry for 15 years, and served as a Chef at various restaurants for many years.
Silvano was a very gifted man who self-taught in many areas from vehicle mechanics to carpentry to chef and restaurant owner. He was a very kind, compassionate man, who loved his family immensely and made many, many friends over years as a restaurant owner. Warmly remembered as a very hard working man, which began as a young child, working alongside his father on a farm in Italy.
Silvano immigrated to the United States at the age of 18 and self-taught to speak English and began working at a restaurant in Northport, NY and was trained to be a chef at the restaurant he worked at by his uncle.
Silvano was an amazing chef and people came from a long distance to eat at his restaurant because his skills were so outstanding. He made many friends over the years and more recently over the past 10 years through his restaurant, Silvano’s Italian Restaurant in Cambridge, New York.
He was a very generous man and spent many years building for various religious organizations, all volunteered. He also spent 3 months in Mexico, building a church and helping build at various places, also doing volunteer work.
While living in California Silvano was involved in prison ministry, ministering to the inmates in various correctional facilities throughout the state of California.
He was a very kind man, and would give you the shirt off his back.
In addition to his mother, Maria, Silvano is also survived by his devoted wife of nearly 43 years, Lucille Delnevo, whom he married on December 20, 1981 in Huntington, New York. He was the loving father to his children: Carly, Talia (Michael), Stefano, Andreo, Gianni (Renee), Isaiah, and Paul (Hollyann), beloved grandfather to his grandchildren: Lilliana, Jared, Noah, Gabriella, Madeline, Cameron, Luna and Michael, He was the dearest brother to: Roberto, Guiliano (Linda) and Gabriella (Lawrence).
Special thanks to all the caring people that reached out to Silvano during his medical decline, too many to mention, but you all know who you are, and so does God!
Cremation has taken place through the care of Simple Choices, Inc.
A Celebration of Life will be held at New Life Christian Church, 2 S. Union Street, Cambridge, NY 12816.
A time and date is pending and will be announced.
